Corporate Flight Department Management requires a very close and personal Customer focus, a strong and effective leadership, address the activities through a process approach, an evidence-based decision making, effective interrelation with people and improvement of the complete set of procedures; as AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 indicate and suggest.

Compensation policy, Succession Plan and Carrer Path for the Staff members are very useful tools.

Special Services

From the aviation very begining, many non technical areas have been developed and applied to Crew training, as well as the increasing operational complexity on many areas of the world, and a coming of advanced technology.

Current high level of automation in horizontal and vertical Air Navigation, demands from the flight crew a comprehensive manage of available resourses.

With long range corporate jets increasing market due the globalization, new general aviation destinations include remotes areas airspaces and airports not previously operated.

Wide expertise operating in special airspace like North Atlantic Track (NAT) System, China RVSM, Australia and Russia may be useful to assistance and guidance for Intercontinental operations Crew.

Customer satisfaction shall be constantly monitored and measured,

Providers Evaluation:

To the flight department smooth running, its very important to build up and maintain a dependable net of vendors, specially those providing critical services like aviation fuel, international handling, ground local handling and crew training; An useful tool is the periodic assessment of the current providers and an excellent relationship with them, aimed to an strategic liaison more than a competitive attitude.

Reports to Upper Management:

Periodic report to the upper management is essential to keep the owner currently informed about the main economic, operational, and strategic aspects of the flight department.

Crew Coaching

Sometime certain crew should require for some reason to have in-flight follow-up, monitoring or oversight. May be about low experience on some aircraft type, may be due no previous or low experience on some route, area or special airspaces. Coaching permits identify a better way to perform some procedures, the right way to communicate with the air traffic control, an optimum mode to extract more capabilities from a given equipment, prevent delays in some areas or airports, etc.

Human Factors

As Human Factors Certified Instructor, Carlos Dillon can dictate TEM Model, NoTechS (Non Technical Skills), CRM and Medical Issues Course to keep the crews current on the 12 month mandatory Human Factors recurrent course.

PBN

Performance Based Navigation Operations with RNAV and/or RNP procedures, even enroute, terminals or instrument approaches, have been dramatically growing up lately. An important portion of the pilot assessment during inspections and training has changed, given high priority to this kind of procedures, with special emphasis on vertical navigation modes used by crews in different circumstances and phases of the operation. It is very important the comprehensive compression of this new technology applied to aeronautical procedures.

RVSM

Reduced Vertical Separation Minimums airspace, is also expanded progressively to more and more areas in the world.

China Flight Levels Allocation Scheme (FLAS), is a typical very specific and unique airspace, where special altitude units and procedures must be applied.

Also, this periodic course must be attended by pilots to keep them current with the regulations.

Intercontinental Operations

Every day the aircraft are easier to fly, but every day is more difficult to fly over the world with an airplane. Intercontinental Operations require being competent in a type of operations where one long range corporate jet passenger can request to fly anywhere, anytime, with no restrictions at all. Starting involved on intercontinental operations by 1978, Carlos Dillon has accumulated a huge expertise on this matter, flying big cargo airplanes and large corporate jets all around the world.

Special Airspace Operations

Intercontinental Operations involve sometime very special airspace, into which special rules are applied, different altitude units are used, specific procedures are mandatory or certain restrictions in effect, special sanitary request, etc. It is emphatically recommended for the crews to be properly familiarized prior to be involved on special airspace operations, like the North Atlantic Track (NAT), China RVSM Airspace, Hong-Kong area, Russia Operations, Australia Operations, etc.
